The launcher works without an account. Linking it lets your launches and game sessions count on the compatibility board under your name.
How linking works
An account is optional. A launcher that is not logged in opens the blizznux.com front page, and the site shows its login box there once each time the launcher starts. Close it to browse without an account. Logging in there, or at any time with the site's own Log In button, links the launcher; signing up and resetting a password work too. There is no code to copy.
The launcher waits 10 minutes for that login. If you log in later, it is picked up when the page reloads, or the next time the launcher starts.
The launcher never sees your password. The site hands it a token that is only good for sending reports.
One login
Inside the launcher there is just one login. Being logged in on the site in the launcher window is what links it. There is one place to log out: the site's own menu inside the launcher, which logs the launcher out as well within seconds. After you log out, the launcher stays on the page you are on and does not put the login box up again; it shows again the next time the launcher starts logged out. Whenever you log in again, the launcher is linked again with no further questions and your sharing choices as they were.
If a different person logs in on the same launcher, sharing is switched off until they have been asked.
The one question
Right after linking, the bottom bar asks whether to share compatibility reports with the community. Yes turns sharing on, No leaves it off. Either way you stay logged in to the forum inside the launcher.
In Settings
Under BlizzNux account the launcher shows who is logged in (log out from the site's menu), and you can change your mind at any time:
- Share verification reports (launches and game sessions, with your setup): the automatic reports behind the compatibility board.
- Send bug reports automatically when a launch fails: off unless you turn it on.
- Send the "how did it run?" answer without a preview: skips the preview after a game session.
You can also sign a launcher out from the website: open your profile, go to the Launcher tab and press Revoke next to it under Linked installs. That launcher is then signed out completely, on the site inside it as well. It notices at its next check: when it starts, when a page loads, and every ten minutes.
What each report contains, and where it ends up, is in Launcher reports.
